Erica started making costumes for anime conventions in 2006. When her sewing skills advanced enough to win costume competitions, she began offering commissions to her friends.
Due to the amount of interest in Erica's sewing skills, she created the Etsy shop Barefoot Sewing as a revenue stream. The shop launched in 2012, and has generated thousands of dollars in direct sales and dozens of commissions.
